Dance Moms Will Soon Return to Lifetime! January 9, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — dancemomma @ 1:00 am

My guilty pleasure!  It should be returning soon to Lifetime!  Season 2!  Yay!

This season Holly is unable to make it to rehersals so of course Abby is fired up.  Another big change is that Chloe is becoming more of a star.  Oh the drama!

And will Brooke’s dream of leaving dance for cheer come true?

I can’t wait to find out!  Lu will be so excited!

The Kindle…Amazing January 4, 2012

Filed under: Uncategorized — dancemomma @ 2:10 am

The Kindle is an amazing thing in our home right now.  This evening, Lu did not dance at the studio, she downloaded books onto her new Kindle.  What is she currently reading?  “Heaven is for Real” and “The Help.”  This is on top of her classics like “Emma” and “Oliver Twist.”

So while I am writing fluff on my blogs this evening, she is feeding her brain.  So good luck tomorrow at the Academic Team meet, Lu!  😉

The Nerd Party December 3, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — dancemomma @ 2:12 am

This Friday night’s theme is “Revenge of the Nerds” at the studio.  Lulu loves these theme parties because every Friday night is Halloween for her.  Tonight she has on different patterned knee socks, thick glasses frames with hospital tape in the middle, hair is crazy, and she has a “Kick Me” sign on her back.  She’s having a blast, Cha cha, Rumba-ing, Hustle-ing, and plain old partying in general.  During her private lesson, I have gotten comfortable enough to run to Kroger across the street for a few things I needed, but only for a few minutes.  And only during her private lesson.  It’s difficult to watch her dance during her private anyway, because she and her instructor are usually in a place the mirror won’t catch them in the studio away from the group lesson.

Of course, I sit in my spot on the couch quietly observing the patrons here all dressed up in their “nerd” attire.  even through I’m not dressed up, I unfortunatly feel like I am dressed like them, having come straight from work to pick the kiddo up.  Time for a makeover!

This months lineup looks like a fun time for the kid.  Next week is the “Superhero party,” then comes the Christmas Ball.  Should be a fun month of dressing up!  Goal of the week:  find a decent “Superhero” for her to model.  I am not very well versed in superhero stuff, so Google will be my friend this week!

Hurts so good. November 21, 2011

Turkey Trot 2011 is not only still fresh on my mind, but is remembered with every step, sneeze, and breath I take.  Walking down a staircase is no longer an easy feat.  Having slept a couple nights since the race has helped, but the muscles in my abdomen and quads continue to scream at me.   “Whyyyyyyyyyy did you run without training?  Never do that again!”  However, this has helped to motivate me to go to the gym on a regular basis from now on…mostly on the weekends when life is not crazy (see yesterday’s post) and to not eat a ton of foods that do not do my body good.

I did have an excellent idea at te awards ceremony from the race.  There are multiple age groups including ones for younger children.  I think that once the weather gets more tolerable, Lulu will be running 5K’s with me.  It will serve as a little more dicipline, exercise, and some self-esteem for winning trophies.  (Because really, I was shocked and my face was red when my name was called for 2nd place in my age group.)

Anyone else out there competing in fall/winter 5K’s?  Anyone getting their kids involved?

Friends always ask about my days…

AKA How do you do it all?

Not an easy feat.

Here is a breakdown of a typical workday when Lulu has a date with the studio:

Wake up in the mornin’ feelin’ like P. Diddy. (Ha ha!)

Shower, hair, make-up, wake up Lulu.

Get her ready, fix lunches, take her to school, commute 45 minutes to work.

Work hard all day until 5.

Drive one hour to get her, drive 45 more minutes after I get her to the studio.

Spend a couple hours sitting at the studio while she dances, usually writing blog posts or doing NaNoWriMo (in November.)

Drive 45 minutes home, get ready for bed, mak sure the alarms are set, and get ready to do it all again the next day!

So that’s how I “do it all.”  There’s still the question of when I go to the grocery store (not too often these days- no time!)   When do I go shopping?  (Hardly ever.)  When do I hang with my friends?  (Rare occasions.)  When do I write?   (The studio, on Sundays, on my lunch break at work, or at night if I’m not too tired after the day is done.)

Anyone else have a super-hectic life as well?
